Transmission

The Hino 300 Series offers a wide range of speeds with a cross gear ratio, and incorporating new technologies, manual, fully automatic or automated manual transmission variants.

All of our light duty trucks deliver outstanding driving performance, and improved fuel consumption. The range includes a neutral control feature to reduce waste during idling, as well as optimal combination of exhaust and engine brakes. The computer determines the weight of your payload and the incline to automatically shift the gear down.

If the transmission goes into neutral when you are in a standstill, you can still lift your foot off the pedal to make the truck move forward at very low speeds. Uphill is smooth with no unwanted backward movement.

Safety

Packed with advanced active safety features our 300 Series offers reduced blind spots, serious braking systems and crush-resistant, energy-absorbing technology.

Wide front and side windows, low instrument panel, large rear view mirrors, specially shaped automatic cornering halogen lamps, and bumper-inset fog lamps contribute to ease of driving in any condition. Reversing camera & Vehicle Stability Control is standard, with four-wheel ventilated disc brakes, ABS braking, Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA) providing stable braking under all load conditions.

Outside, the high rigidity cabin is extremely crush-resistant. Sturdy side door impact beams also increase your level of protection. Inside, the energy-absorbing steering wheel and column, double SRS air bags and pretension seatbelts minimise shock and injury.

Environment & Economy

Our 300 Series delivers horsepower, fuel economy and cleaner emissions.

Meeting Euro 5 emission standards, Hino were also the first to introduce a US04 compliant engine for New Zealand regulations. Employing a common rail system for optimum control of the fuel injection process, and a high-efficiency exhaust gas recirculation system to reduce combustion temperature, the 300 Series achieves almost complete combustion. To further assist with fuel efficiency, the 300 Series comes with a ‘Navigation for Trucks’ GPS unit standard.

These systems produce low NOx, PM, and CO2 emissions while enhancing fuel efficiency – contributing to the reduction in operation costs of your business. Part of our 300 Series range includes light duty hybrid trucks. Durability

The Hino 300 Series is known for its strength and durability.

With the same 6mm thick frame as many medium-duty trucks; our light duty trucks ride on some of the strongest frames for their class. Supported by a powerful suspension system, Hino trucks are highly resistant to twisting, bending, and stresses created by heavy loads and rough roads. The cab uses galvanised steel sheeting, treated with a cathodic electrode position coating.

The single-sheet floor panel and waterproof connectors also assist in producing the ultimate in anti-corrosion construction. The rear axle employs a 13-inch differential (GVMR over 8.5 tons), matching those used in medium-duty trucks – proving that the Hino 300 Series are true workhorse.

Comfort

Ergonomically and intuitively designed with the driver in mind, the Hino 300 Series has optimised cab space for room and comfort.

Our comfortable cabs offer easy access, high roof, and ample legroom. With tilt and telescopic steering, and sliding/reclining driver’s seat, to larger cab mounts and thicker leaf springs that reduce friction and absorb shock from the road, our stand features have been designed with the driver in mind.

The 300 Series includes single din Bluetooth multimedia units, wide free rack, centre and overhead consoles, door pockets, and upper and lower glove boxes for handy storage and access to items. While a variety of convenient options such as air conditioning also available.
